As from 1 August 2021, people over the age of 35 can now also register to get their Covid-19 vaccinations.
According to the Department of Health, the national vaccination programme continues across the country. This is despite the violent protests which resulted in the temporary closure of some sites.
Register for your Covid-19 vaccination
The Department has encouraged all eligible people to sign up and register on the Electronic Vaccination Data System (EVDS).
In addition, people may also use other methods of vaccine registration. They can call the COVID-19 Call Centre on 0800 029 999, WhatsApp 0600 123 56, or dial *134*832#.
Currently all eligible persons will be assisted with registration and will be vaccinated. This includes even those who have registered on the EDVS system, but who have not received their SMSes as yet.
Where can you get your vaccine?
In most instances, members of medical schemes may use any private or state vaccination site once they have registered on the EDVS. Some private facilities make use of a vaccination booking portal. Genesis members are therefore encouraged to check if the vaccination facility of their choice has any additional bookings requirements.
Various vaccination sites across South Africa may be used. Registered facilities include state clinics / hospitals, Dis-Chem, Clicks, Mediclinic, Life and Netcare hospitals, Pick ‘n Pay and other private pharmacies and many more.

What must you take with?
Genesis members are reminded to take their ID and membership card along when they go for their vaccination(s).
Will Genesis pay for your vaccine?
YES, the Scheme will cover the cost of your Covid-19 vaccination. The facility where you are vaccinated will submit a claim directly to the Scheme.
