Genesis social media policy

Being a leading medical scheme in South Africa with a proud legacy of providing our members with access to exceptional healthcare funding benefits at very affordable rates, Genesis Medical Scheme also actively embraces social media.

The Scheme uses social media as a communications platform to inform and educate our members, potential new members, healthcare service providers and other stakeholders about our benefits and service offering, general industry trends, news and updates, health tips, getting to know our staff better, making important announcements, sharing memorable member experiences, sharing matters that lie close to the heart of people, or just to have fun.

The content of all our social media posts is for informational use only and is never intended to provide professional, financial, medical or treatment advice.

Whilst our social media platforms are for everyone we do however encourage respectful and constructive participation from all our followers. We also reserve the right to remove discriminatory, offensive, abusive, defamatory, threatening, hateful, infringing and false posts or content, as well as spam, or any posts or content that may be against any South African laws or which may infringe the privacy right(s) of any person.

Genesis Medical Scheme expressly reserves to itself the right to remove any posts or followers that it, in its sole discretion, finds to be inappropriate according to the above protocol. But having said that, we acknowledge that we may not always get it right… To this end, when one of our followers, in their opinion, has a justifiable grievance which they wish to share on one of our social media platforms, they may do so, on the condition that they consent to the full disclosure of all the facts relevant to the matter. This will give other followers the opportunity to follow a debate based on the factual merits of the case or grievance.
